Today we are highlighting the instructional activities in Mr. Bucklin’s Writing class.  Mr. Bucklin’s writing classes transitioned from their “Symbol of Me” essays to a new task, with students focusing on a time in their lives when they successfully handled a challenging situation. Using a “fishbone” graphic organizer to help generate ideas, students discussed past experiences which pushed them out of their comfort zone and brought them to new levels of understanding and achievement. After this discussion, and with “fishbones” filled out with brainstorming ideas, students began drafting an essay entitled “From Struggle to Strength,” which they will have the next several classes to complete.

Another hot day here at Forman Summer! With temperatures soaring to 90°F, students stayed cool this afternoon with a field trip to Apple Cinemas in neighboring Torrington, CT to watch Spiderman: Far from Home.  The movie was action-packed and very entertaining! If you haven’t seen it, we highly recommend it!

We at Forman Summer know it wouldn’t be Fourth of July without a proper cookout to celebrate our country’s independence!  This evening, students and staff enjoyed a meal together with all of the typical picnic staples, including s’mores around a campfire.  All of the camaraderie established by the earlier events and picnic may have been destroyed by the water balloon fight held on the Green.  All in good fun, though!
